Summit History

The first thing you'll notice about the Summit PPC is that it isn't a copy of a copy. If you have been shopping around, you will also notice that it is getting harder to tell some of our competitors apart.

SO, WHY IS THE SUMMIT SO DIFFERENT?

There are two main reason for this:

  1. We simply started with a clean sheet of paper.

  2. The manufacturer of the Summit is also the manufacturer of two other well known ultralights.

Instead of looking at the existing marketplace or working from a competitor's model, we designed the Summit from scratch.

As you can see, the early stages of our design was somewhat crude. But, in the beginning our aim "was" proof of concept and "was not" to copy what was already out there. By the way, how would you like to have been the test pilot?

During this early process, our main goal was to keep the Summit as light as possible, yet make it one of the strongest PPCS on the market. We were able to achieve this goal mainly due to the fact that we have over 15 years of ultralight design and manufacturing experience.

As you can see by the second prototype, it is already starting to look like a real Summit.

Here is the main 4” tube as it comes from our factory, all pre-drilled and ready for assembly!

Notice the 4 “ tube on one of our ULs.

By combining all of our ultralight techniques and experience we have been able to produce a very light and strong frame, just like we have produced with our current, ultralight models.

The main fuselage tube of the Summit is a 4” OD drawn seamless 6061-T6 aluminum tube. This particular construction technique and design has proven itself many times in some of our high time ultralights. We now have an ultralight that uses the same tube construction as the Summit, with well over 3000 hours. So if it can handle the heavier Ul’s and the test of time, you know the Summit is strong.  When designing and building UL’s, every step and process is centered around keeping the final product as light as possible, without compromising safety and strength.

You will not find a lighter and stronger PPC on the market today!
